NEW V4001 KIT FOR TELECINE MACHINES
Cyan compatible "fit and forget" upgrade for all telecine machines
This laser conversion is a bolt on replacement for the existing 35mm or 16mm lamphouse. It suits the C-Reality, URSA and MK3 telecines (simple lamp supply mod required for the Mk3). It incorporates a red laser assembly that produces a tightly focused, uniform and high brightness beam.

The baseplate and front clamp of the original Cintel lamphouse are retained to mount the laser. The existing position adjustment, formerly a pair of lock-nuts, are replaced by an easy to use knurled adjuster. There is a built in voltage regulator that means that you simply plug it in to the existing socket on the deckplate. The laser takes less than a hundredth of the current of the original lamp. Laser life is typically 50,000 hours.

The overall performance is consistently superb on both Cyan and conventional optical tracks: frequency response and phase are much improved due to the better defined beam. The as-sembly can be supplied as an exchange on an existing Cintel lamphouse base, pre-aligned so you can fit and forget.

NEW SUPPLIES CATALOGUE FOR TRADE

New for 2007, Future Projections have released a 55 page catalogue, with the aim of collating items of interest to the  cinema, theatre, AV venue and education sectors.   The catalogue lists a large number of film related items such as tape, consumables and xenon lamps as well as smaller AV accessories to assist with the integration of D cinema and alternative content sources.  Audio and video gear, mixers and radio mics are included.

Larger items intended for installation are also listed.  Features are made of the full range of Kinoton cinema range of both film and Digital projectors, as well as Barco and Panasonic Digital projectors, JBL, Martin and QSC speakers.

Karen Pitman, sales manager for Future Projection notes “Up until our move into our new warehouse this year we’ve not been in a position to effectively tell people about what we do.  Our catalogue and our new web site, www.fproj.com, lists a good selection of the items stocked and in our portfolio.  We have concentrated on products that we know about, or where we can offer specific cost or quality advantages.  We have however stopped short of selling products that are already well tendered on the market”.   Karen adds that products such as tea bags and vacuum cleaners are best bought from Tesco and Currys !

Shipped with the first copies of the catalogue are unique “movie trivia” 2007 year planners.

Free copies of the catalogue are available by calling 020 8766 7100 or emailing catalogue@fproj.com.  Outside the catalogue we can also offer a large range of Kinoton spare parts at extremely competitive prices.

THX CERTIFICATION AWARDED TO RADISSON MAY FAIR THEATRE
5 Star Hotel boasts world class facility

The newly completed 200 seat May Fair Theatre, inside London’s Radisson Mayfair Hotel, is complete and has been certified by THX. The theatre is one of a handful of UK cinemas to achieve this coveted qualification.

The theatre, in the shell of the original Mayfair Theatre, seats 200 and is equipped as a theatre, Digital and 35mm cinema and has extensive conference facilities.     THX were consulted from the initial design stage and full certification was gained following a extensive set of tests during a visit from THX’s Simon Allen.

Designed and fitted out by London based Future Projections Ltd, the theatre is located in the heart of London’s salubrious Stratton St, near to Green Park and Hyde Park corner.  Future Projections have completed similar projects for a large number of private and public viewing facilities both in the UK and abroad.  Says MD Peter Hall “The Mayfair is a unique venue – not only was our brief to deliver a mixed use facility, but we were required to deliver world class performance in all modes of operation, whether film, Digital cinema, theatre or conference.  Radisson Edwardian, the hotel owners, were a pleasure to work with and communications were simplified by the construction and design team being both hotel based and employed”.

Specifications were set by Radisson Edwardian’s IT Director Iype Abraham, who adopted the same “no compromise” approach to quality and standards found throughout the hotel.  The theatre fit out is part of a £70 million refurbishment of the famous building.

Technically, Kinoton FP30D cinema projectors complement a BARCO DP90 Digital cinema projector, whilst alternative content projection is provided by a Panasonic PTD5500 DLP projector.  JBL Screen Array speakers were used in conjunction with QSC amplifiers and DBX controllers.

An Ultra JSD80 Digital to Audio processor is included, for conversion of D cinema tracks to analogue.  Says Hall “The JSD offers not only the same D to A capabilities found in similar digital media adaptors but it also offers a wealth of delays and alternative content facilities, including Dolby AC3 decoding”.   Autopatch provides soft patching for audio, video and component video throughout the building.

A full DMX controlled lighting rig is also installed, allowing for a standard “house” rig as well as future installation of moving light heads.  Extensive array of tie lines are available, not just within the theatre but to adjacent conference rooms.  Eight PTZ (Pan, tilt, zoom) cameras are fitted, covering not only the stage but also the audience area, allowing presentations to be relayed Digitally to any location, be this an adjacent conference room, the hotel’s “in house” TV system or across the world via either discrete Digital feeds or videoconferencing.

A unique feature of the theatre is it’s interactive voting and control system, whereby each seat is fitted with a voting console.  As well as allowing feedback and secure voting, the system allows each member of the audience to ask questions at (for instance) a press conferrence, with both audio and video of the question asker being fed to plasma screens in the theatre and to videoconferencing systems inside and outside the hotel.  The system was supplied by Hampshire based IMP Systems.

Future Projections are exclusive UK agents for the THX certification programme, and have worked on venues ranging from the massive “Empire Leicester Square” to the 42 seat “Covent Garden Hotel” cinema.
