Kinoton is one of the biggest manufacturers of professional film projection technology worldwide. We design and supply the whole projection, sound and stage technology for single auditorium theatres as well as for the largest multiplexes. By continuous technical innovations and engineering enhancements we assure that our products always keep at the forefront of technology. In anything we do, our prime importance is: highest reliability of our film projection equipment in any clime and with any film material a long product life with minimal maintenance easy operation and optimum safety Assure yourself of our unsurpassed product range - the world's largest!
See the difference! - Advantages of Kinoton Projection Systems which other manufacturers cannot provide or for which they add extra charge.
Did you know that, compared with the world's other film projector manufacturers:
- Kinoton projectors provide the steadiest image?
- Kinoton lamp houses have the highest light output?
- Kinoton provides the greatest range of products?
- Kinoton is represented by a world-wide dealer network?
- Kinoton products require virtually no maintenance?
And we can prove it! There is a reason that the best of the best count on Kinoton, not only large cinema chains, but also customers such as:
- Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
- Disney Studios
- Dolby Labs.
- Eastman Kodak
- Lucasfilm
- Museum of Motion Images (MOMI)
- NASA
- Planetarium in Rio de Janeiro
- Rank Film Studios
- Sony
- Twentieth Century Fox
- Universal Studios
- Warner Bros.v
- United Cinemas, Virgin Cinemas, UGC...
and many more .just to name a few. Apart from this, we are routinely called when it comes to significant film festivals or special venue projects anywhere in the world. Wherever milestones had to be set in this industry they were set by Kinoton. Let us give you some reasons for this:
Advantages of our glass mirrors over metal mirrors:
- Higher light yield than ever (20% and more); of course this brings down operating cost for bulbs and power supplies.
- Cold coating of glass mirrors allows for reduced heat on the film; this means the film print is less bleached and is good for many more runs.
- Colour temperature is more closely matched to the human sense of natural light and pleases your eyes, whereas metal mirrors shift colour temperature and appear less natural (If the higher price of these superb features creates too big an obstacle we can, of course, also supply metal mirrors).
Kinoton lamp houses are made with double walls:
Our lamp houses become warm, not hot, no matter what bulb is used. This will make sure that nobody gets hurt when touching our lamp house, even after hours of operation.
Heat and Cooling:
You want your screen big? This requires a lot of light, but a lot of light and heat just is not good for the film. Our lamphouses feature heat removing optical filters, both within the reflector's coating and at the front of the lamphouse. Our dual heat sinks are situated close to the film. With pipes running through them, the heat can be removed by our refrigerated water cooling system. We provide complete solutions which will allow you to run your prints many more times than on other projectors.
Drive motors:
- Most manufacturers use single phase motors. Kinoton uses 3-phase sync motors driven by a crystal stabilised frequency converter unit as a standard - by the way, at no extra charge!
- Programmed slow starting and stopping reduces wear on the mechanical components for longer life.
- Frequency converter units provide independence from mains fluctuations - it just cannot be more precise!
- 3-phase driven sync motors provide the smoothest and most even running. This reduces machine vibrations, which, especially in the case of giant screens, cause small image movements that the human mind interprets as a lack of focus.
Curved gate:
Slightly bending the film with a curved skate prevents severe malformation as the film can only bend in one way at a time. This maintains even focus over entire picture area, even when exposed to several thousand watts of light. A curved film gate clearly outperforms a straight gate. Delrin skate and runner strips: Self lubricating Delrin skates and runners treat film gently, which is particularly advantageous in protecting sensitive digital sound information situated on the film's edges. Steel skates sand off the digital sound tracks and your processor switches to analogue sound. Delrin runners ensure that from the first to last run of a film the digital sound information will remain undamaged.
Reverse Scan Sound Reading with LEDs:
Are you tired of troubles with set-up and audible side effects of laser sound readers? With our LED reverse scan sound device there are none.
Switchless film break sensors:
We no longer use mechanical film break sensors. Instead, switchless reflex light sensors are now standard on all our projectors.
Feed-out units on platters:
Problems with polyester prints and wraps on platters? These aggravations are gone with our patented devices. Our reflex light sensors work regardless of the film's properties. Feed-out of the film is sensed switchlessly and doesn't care what film is used. This is a system you won't see on other manufacturers' devices soon: Microprocessor controls almost everywhere. Not only our platters are improved due to microprocessor control, but also our towers, reel drives, rewinds and even our make-up tables. Old mechanical controls for film handling is no longer state of the art.
Research & Development:
- Who has brought complex and unique ideas to life in recent years?
- Who has been awarded two Scientific and Engineering Awards?
- Who has given the cinema market the revolutionary E drive system which outperforms any mechanical intermittent unit, even our own?
- Who has really listened to customers and converted their ideas into current products?
- Who has truly state-of-the-art products, not just devices from the 50's with a few updates.
- Who has a true engineering department with full time licensed engineers?
Planning a Cinema:
Do you need professional assistance and expertise for planning your cinema? Over 50 years of experience, along with uncounted cinemas, studios and special venue applications successfully consulted on and planned, puts us in the position of being real experts. We provide solutions!
