New DCI compliant D cinema projector and server package from Barco

Priced less than E cinema packages

Now Barco lets you have true Hollywood-approved industry standard D cinema for the price of nonstandard E cinema kits. Introducing the Barco DP2k- 10SX DCI Digital projector and integrated server, specifically designed for smaller venues.

This projector, with performance and compatibility with all DCI approved Digital Cinema content and hardware, will show current feature films, 3D, high frame rate and an assortment of alternative content. The unit has won the Best Product Award at the 2012 Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV). "We think this has potential to be a game changer. Now independent sites can now enjoy the same compatibility and quality that has become industry standard for an E cinema price.

The system is robust, DCI standard and designed to last, using full size Xenon lamps and the same light engine technology that has become a worldwide standard and yet the pricing is less than some E cinema kits" The DP2K-10Sx is an ‘easy-to-plug’ projector with integrated play and projection features, enabling easy operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Moreover, Barco’s advanced sealed optical engine and active DMD cooling technologies can prolong the service life of the DMD chip – which means that the DP2K-10Sx outlasts equivalent products on the market. The DP2k-10SX is intended to be fully DCI compliant, allowing it so be used for not only Hollywood endorsed 3D, 2D or high frame rate performances. It can also accept all forms of E cinema input.

Unlike other projector suppliers who are using expensive customized lamps, the Barco DP2K-series efficiently maximizes the light output from standard short-arc bulbs (available from multiple suppliers). This results in a lamp operating cost that is up to 30% lower than competition, with choice and variety for every exhibitor. Moreover, Barco DP2K-series projectors have the lowest cooling exhaust requirement in the industry and further lower total cost of ownership thanks to the use of re-usable filters on all air inlets.
