2009 has been an interesting year for both the industry and for us at Future Projections. Settling well into our new premises, we quickly noticed how much easier it was to serve our customers' needs in a more timely and efficient way. Holding a full range of Kinoton spare parts in stock helps, as does the wide range of hire gear we now have.

The year brought with it some interesting installations - from the 3500 seat Hammersmith Apollo, through the HMV Wimbledon (the UK's first remote control cinema operation) to our traditional client base of private screening rooms, including a 12 seater and the luxurious Working Title screening room.

Equipment wise, our friends at Barco continue to work closely with us on world class Digital cinema gear, and a newly formed alliance with XpanD now allows us to sell the worlds most advanced and light efficient 3D system. We are absolutely delighted to be working alongside GDC in Europe - their servers have proven 100% reliable as well as carrying storage and operational advantages.

Universities continue to want film, and we completed a four screen complex for the University of Warwick. For the first time however we have installed more Digital than film projection systems, with no 35mm at all in commercial cinemas.

Design and project management continue to play a large part of our business, and we have come up with some particularly innovative projection based solutions during the year for some challenging venues. This will continue into the 2010s, with cinemas finding their way into increasingly less traditional sites.
